August 8 - Minister of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic Colonel General Ramil Usubov received Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, Police Major General Isgender Mulikov who is on an official visit in our republic on the delegation headed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Having welcomed the guest, the Minister emphasized historical centuries-old friendly and fraternal relations between our peoples and further strengthening of cooperation in all spheres in accordance with the political will of both presidents, Mr. Ilham Aliyev and Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Having mentioned the importance of high-level negotiations which take place in Baku today, the Declaration about Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Republic of Turkmenistan made with the participation of the heads of state, intergovernmental instruments in various areas including signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, especially reference to security issues as one of the key factors and elements in the above mentioned declaration, R.Usubov expressed content with a whole new level of good-neighbour relations and strategic partnership between our countries and with the fact that comprehensive development and integration processes also covered the internal affairs agencies.

Having expressed gratitude for hearty reception and detailed information, Mr. Isgender Mulikov expressed his confidence that the signed agreement would give another impulse to further development of cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of two states, and emphasized that Turkmenistan would in turn exert every effort in this area.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed priority areas and prospects for cooperation, combating international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking and other kinds of transnational organized crime, enhancement of information exchange as well as discharge of commitments arising from provisions of the signed agreement and other matters of importance.
